Tunisia: between bewitching medinas, golden desert and Oriental flavours

Departure from Pierre Elliott Trudeau airport with Tunisair to Tunis. Meals served on board.

Arrival at Tunis airport and welcome by a French-speaking assistant, transfer and installation at the hotel. Dinner and overnight at the 4* Concorde Green Park Port El Kantaoui hotel (or similar in Hammamet).

Breakfast. Guided tour of the Medina and old town.
After dinner, visit Carthage, its museum and Antonin’s thermal baths. Dinner during the tour.
At the end of the day, discover the charm of Sidi Bou Saïd with its pretty blue and white houses. Take time to enjoy a mint tea in one of the cafés on the square.

Return to Sousse, dinner and overnight at the 4* Concorde Green Park Port El Kantaoui hotel (or similar in Hammamet).

Breakfast, then departure for Dougga. Discover its UNESCO-listed archaeological site. Dougga is considered the best-preserved Roman city in North Africa.

Continuation to Kairouan with dinner en route. Return to Sousse. Check-in, dinner and overnight at the 4* Concorde Green Park Port El Kantaoui hotel (or similar in Hammamet).

Today, discover Kairouan, Tunisia’s holy city. Visit its famous monuments, including the Great Mosque and the Aghlabid basins. Before reaching the gateway to the desert: Tozeur.

Dinner and overnight stay. Arrival in Tozeur, dinner and overnight at the 4* Ras Ain Tozeur hotel (or similar).

Breakfast. Take a jeep excursion to Chebika & Tamerza, charming oases in the heart of the pink sandstone mountains.

Late afternoon opportunity Excursion to Ong Jmel, a site used as a backdrop for Star Wars, and jeep ride in the Sahara dunes, not to be missed.

Dinner. Return to Tozeur. Visit to a palm grove by horse-drawn carriage.

After breakfast, set off for Douz via Tunisia’s largest salt lake, Chott Jérid, with a photo stop to admire the mirages.

Arriving in Douz, enjoy a camel ride to the gateway to the desert and a quad ride (4 wheels, possibility for 2 people) through the sand dunes.

Dinner and departure to spend the night in tents in the desert. Tents set up, dinner. Folk entertainment around the fire in the evening. DESERT CAMP ZMELA.

Breakfast at camp, free time to explore the dunes and the silence; possibility of a swim in the hot spring and continuation to Matmata to discover its village. Matmata is famous for its troglodyte dwellings inhabited by the Berber Matmata tribe. Departure for Djerba and dinner at your hotel.

Breakfast at the hotel and departure for a tour of the island of Djerba, famous for its beaches and white towns. Discover the historic town center and the “Ghriba” Synagogue. For the world’s Jewish community, it is a major pilgrimage site, attracting thousands of pilgrims every year.

Dinner included at the hotel and the rest of the afternoon at leisure. Enjoy sunbathing on the resort’s magnificent private beach.

After breakfast, departure from Djerba. Stop for a stroll through the spice market in Gabès. All your senses will be awakened by the stalls of turmeric, saffron, cinnamon and much more.

Continue with a visit to El Jem amphitheater, Tunisia’s most famous Roman monument.
Dinner.

Departure for Sousse to complete your trip, heading for the seaside resort for the next 4 nights. Dinner at the hotel and evening at leisure.
