Breakfast.
Meet your private guide and depart for Nyungwe National Park. En route, visit the King’s Palace, which provides an insight into Rwanda’s monarchical system and its abolition in the early 1960s as a result of colonialism. You’ll also discover the Ethnographic Museum.

Dinner.
In the afternoon, stroll through the park and cross a suspension bridge 70 metres above the forest. Scientists believe that Nyungwe remained forested during the last Ice Age, which may explain its remarkable biodiversity of plants, animals and 13 species of primates.

Dinner and overnight at MANTIS LAKE KIVU MARINA BAY 3* (or similar)

Breakfast.
3-5 h hike in search of chimpanzees (visibility not guaranteed). Observe chimpanzees in the trees, swinging and jumping from branch to branch.

Dinner at the hotel.
Afternoon at leisure to relax and enjoy the magnificent views of Lake Kivu. Swimming available.

Dinner in a local restaurant. Overnight at hotel.

Departure for Kibuye. En route, visit a magnificent tea plantation, set amid lush vegetation and surrounded by hills, for a unique experience in the heart of nature.

Breakfast.
Depart for Musanze, where you’ll meet a veteran Volcanoes National Park guide for a 90-minute private conversation. He’ll provide an in-depth educational talk, answer questions and tell entertaining stories about mountain gorillas, golden monkeys and the tragic end of Dian Fossey, the great primatologist. She was a pioneer in the defense and protection of animals, and the conservation of mountain gorillas in Rwanda.

Dinner.
Visit the Ellen DeGeneres Campus of the Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund, a newly-built campus with state-of-the-art laboratories, a science conservation library and an interactive exhibition focusing on its history.

Dinner and overnight at hotel TILOREZA VOLCANOES ECOLODGE 3* (or similar)

Breakfast.
Trek in search of mountain gorillas (4 to 6 hours, small group, English-speaking). Meet your English-speaking tracker, who will explain how this exceptional morning in search of gorillas will unfold. Depart for a walking adventure in the natural environment of these large mammals. You may even have the chance to meet a gorilla family.

Return to the hotel for dinner and free time.

Hike in search of Golden Monkeys. Classified as “endangered”, Golden Monkeys are magnificent primates with long golden facial hair and bright orange backs.

Dinner. Visit the village of Iby’Iwacu, which means “treasure of our home”. It’s a lively cultural village where former poachers have repented, realizing the harmful impact they had on wildlife and the future of generations to come. Transfer to Kigali.

Dinner and overnight at UBUMWE GRANDE HOTEL 3* (or similar)

Breakfast.
Departure for a guided tour of Kigali, off the beaten track. You’ll discover the headquarters of a women’s association working for the education and professional integration of women in the country. You’ll then set off on foot through Nyamirambo, one of Kigali’s oldest districts. Along the way, you’ll discover a women’s hairdressing salon, a belvedere offering a beautiful view of Kigali, a tailor’s store…

Dinner.
Visit to the Hôtel des Mille Collines and the Kigali Genocide Memorial. Transfer to the international airport for your return flight (from 7.00 pm).
